How this calculator works
- Tax year: calendar year 2025, filed in 2026.
- Filing statuses: Single, Married filing jointly, Married filing separately, Head of household.
- Standard deduction 2025 under the new law: $15,750 Single or MFS, $31,500 MFJ, $23,625 HOH.
- Brackets: seven rates 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35%, 37% with 2025 thresholds.
- Pre tax retirement contributions reduce AGI, which lowers taxable income before brackets are applied.
State and local taxes are not included. Credits such as Child Tax Credit are not included in this version. Treat results as an estimate.
Example
Single filer with $90,000 wages and no itemised deductions uses the $15,750 standard deduction. Taxable income is $74,250. The split shows how much is taxed at 10 percent, 12 percent and 22 percent with a marginal rate of 22 percent.
